A surprise search by the Food Safety Department at Abhishek Sweets, a laddu factory on Netaji Subhash Path Road in Ward No. 8 of Titagarh, failed miserably. Key points:-  Food Safety Department, the Enforcement Department, the Titagarh Police Station, and the Titagarh Municipality conducted a joint search.  The search revealed the factory, spanning approximately 1,100 square feet, was in a very poor condition. T he Association for Democratic Reforms (ADR) and West Bengal Election Watch have conducted an analysis of all 294 election expenditure statements submitted following the West Bengal Assembly Election 2026 for the newly elected MLAs. As per the ADR the expenditure cap for MLAs during these elections was set at Rs. 40 Lakhs. "Living Roots Originals," a tribal songwriting and creator rights initiative, was introduced by the Indian Ministry of Tribal Affairs in  partnership with the Indian Performing Right Society (IPRS) with the goal of bolstering the creative and economic ecosystem for tribal artists nationwide.  However, the initiative seeks to recognise, protect and promote original musical works created by tribal communities through mentorship, copyright ownership, professional music production and access to royalty-based income opportunities. The inaugural songwriting residency was held in Kolkata from 3–7 August 2026, bringing together 25 artists from eight tribal communities across five states.
