Bengal BJP’s Annapurna Yojana: A Journey of Hope

Points To Be Noted:

  •  4 October 2026, women across West Bengal gathered at Seva Setu camps to express their gratitude
  • More than 1.6 crore women stand empowered through this initiative
  • This endeavor draws strength from our Prime Minister, Narendra Modi larger vision of making a Viksit Bharat by 2047

Within seven days of taking charge, the BJP led Administration of West Bengal, under the Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari, delivered on a commitment that aligned profoundly with the expectations of numerous families throughout the state: the inauguration of the Annapurna Yojna. What originated five months prior as a modest undertaking of assistance has since evolved into a significant initiative embodying hope, dignity, and empowerment.

The Annapurna Yojna represents a state welfare initiative implemented in West Bengal, which commenced operations in June 2026 and delivers a monthly financial assistance of Rs. 3000 to qualifying women beneficiaries. Mechanism of Fund Distribution: the allocated funds are transferred directly into bank accounts that are linked to Aadhaar identification through the Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) system.

The response from the women of West Bengal has been nothing short of extraordinary. From bustling towns to the remotest corners of villages, our mothers, daughters and sisters have embraced the initiative with immense affection, unwavering trust and heartfelt gratitude.

Today, 4 October 2026, women across West Bengal gathered at Seva Setu camps to express their gratitude and shower their blessings on the BJP Government for implementing the Annapurna Yojana. Their blessings, their faith and their stories of hope remain the most cherished reward for our Government. This journey is not of pride, but of profound humility and gratitude. The women of Bengal have entrusted us with the privilege of serving them and that trust carries a responsibility far greater than any number or milestone can convey.

Today, more than 1.6 crore women stand empowered through this initiative. Yet this is only the beginning. Women whose verification is presently underway will soon join this growing fraternity of beneficiaries, while fresh registrations opening shortly. Women can also choose between Widow Pension and Annapurna Yojana, placing the power of choice in their own hands.

Bengal BJP specified that this endeavor draws strength from our Prime Minister, Narendra Modi's larger vision of making a Viksit Bharat by 2047, where women are the most powerful architects and fearless front-runners in the nation’s progress. West Bengal stands shoulder to shoulder with the Government of India in this transformative journey, determined to ensure that the empowerment of its women becomes a defining force in the state’s progress and that is why; this year’s Seva Sankalp Abhiyan that started on 17 September on the birth anniversary of our Prime Minister;  carrying the message of service, compassion and inclusive development coincided with the first Annapurna Diwas as well; ensuring that the first Seva reaches the women of West Bengal.

The Government believes that when the women of West Bengal are empowered, the entire state rises with them. When a woman stands on her own feet, a family finds strength. When she dares to dream, a generation discovers possibility and when millions of women move forward with courage, confidence and conviction, no summit is too distant, no aspiration too ambitious and no horizon beyond their reach. Thus; Annapurna Yojana will ensure that the Annapurnas of our West Bengal walk forward with dignity, rise with confidence and shape a future worthy of their dreams.
